Welcome Rachel!

We would like to introduce Rachel Maris who has joined our team as an Air Quality Monitoring Technician. Rachel graduated with a 2:2 BSc in Geo-Environmental Hazards from Edge Hill University in 2022. Her dissertation used secondary speleothem data to help prove the 8.2ka event, an ice sheet melt 8,200 years ago spanning the northern hemisphere. Upon learning about ecology and the decline of the environment during her undergraduate degree, along with her passion for the outdoors and wildlife, Rachel went on to complete a MSc in Conservation Management. This was alongside a temporary role as a water quality monitoring technician with the Environment Agency. Her postgraduate thesis focused on populations of Carabid beetles in urban amenity grasslands and unmanaged grasslands. This is where her passion for field work really began. After passing her Masters from Edge Hill University, with her passion for field work and experience of monitoring, she decided to join Redmore as the first Air Quality Monitoring Technician!

“I joined the Redmore team in December 2023 as an Air Quality Monitoring Technician and I was quickly met with so many kind and helpful colleagues. The training has been thorough and concise, allowing me to learn quickly on this everchanging role where no two days are the same! All the staff here have been supportive and helpful as I learn more about my role. In my first few weeks I have been to London, Norwich, Nottingham and Scunthorpe amongst other more local areas. I have aided on a plethora of projects, completing monitoring in industry and businesses. I can’t wait to further my career at Redmore!”

We look forward to watching Rachel develop in her role of Air Quality Monitoring Technician.
